Smart Tires Will be Common in Five Years, Nokian Says

Smart tires are expected to be commonplace within the next five years and will likely first appear on electric vehicles.

Efforts to automate traffic will drive demand for smart tires through new technology requirements.  This new technology could enable vehicles to react to the surrounding environment and road conditions based on real-time data.

This technology has the potential to help fleet managers keep up and proactive monitor tire wear-and-tear, tire pressure and tire temperatures that could indicate near-term issues.
